Where we live and where we will gather

We live in the South Pacific in a picturesque valley called the Diamante Valley after a queen waterfall named Diamante. She falls 600 ft in front of our home and farm that is also surrounded by three rivers. Our farm is named Finca Tierra Sagrada due to the immense beauty and reverence a spirit of a place like this demands. We are honored to steward 45 hectares of agroforestry which presently is made up of 3,000 fruit trees. Below you will see one of our first plantings with  Maya Florencia planting her first tree and one of Nicolas and Cassandra's love story trees, the mangosteen.

Devotion to Prayer

Ceremony

We believe a divine union is only divine if it stands for something greater. Through most of history, ceremony meant more than blending two worlds or joining two families into one.  It carried weight and meaning: a prayer so large that it holds everyone we love.

Fire is the flame of our love. We have tended it, and it burns bright, inspiring us to show up in service to something higher.

Water carries our commitment, and we chose our watershed to embody it. A spring rises from the tallest mountains in Costa Rica and falls with great force from the highest heights. It feeds some of the most biodiverse land on Earth, joins the country's longest river and largest wetland, and flows into a marine park that some 30 species of mammals call home. There, currents run both north and south, year-round. The waters born here travel the planet faster than almost anywhere on Earth. We will join these sacred waters with the waters you bring from your homes, so that together they carry this higher calling and unite us in the truest sense. May your blessings become our blessings, shared with the world. May we meet in truth, plant in the same soil, and dance to the same rhythm. May we come into right relationship with ourselves, with each other and with this one place, for a night to remember.

Our
Love
Story

Cassandra and Nico met in 2017, and this loveship took flight, fast and boundless. Punta Mona was a special eclipse of their hearts, gifting them community, life lessons, and priming them for a jungle lifestyle. Nico and Cass left with their hearts full of hope and steam from their Punta Monian family.

They moved from the primary rainforest to California, chasing their dream to fundraise for a community project based in Puerto Morelos, Mexico. This project is what brought Nico and Cass close at first, as they dreamt into a future together of what humanity, community, and Earth stewardship could look like. They found themselves evolving their own concepts and selves even more as the design of the space and movement of people through the land took form. Whole systems design, including culture, connection, and tending.

These pillars guided Nicolas and Cassandra. Their compass took them to stay with many of their friends in the search for funding for their future life. Gabriel and Gina, Amanda Sage and Joebob Merrit, and Casey and Esme took them in for weeks at a time. Young and in love, they ventured to the great Indigenous settlements of Northern California, through Utah, and down to Colorado.

Their fire was fanned by their loved ones, yet the concept was not yet ready to be birthed.

Cassandra and Nico got called back to Costa Rica for even more life lessons. They lived and invested another year of life immersed in the jungle, co-creating what would flourish as a jungle festival coined Jungala. They gathered their closest friends and allies to produce a gala in the jungle that would exhibit how, collectively, people can support regenerative projects, connect deeply with one another, and have a great time doing it. They melded friends from Punta Mona, South pacific and Northern countries.

Soon again, the universe echoed a new path for Nicolas and Cassandra. It came in whispers from many friends: a project on the Pacific edge of Northern California calling Nicolas toward his dear dream, an Ag-tech park.

Not only was this a dream Nicolas had been holding dear to his heart since he was 14—a dream his mom encouraged him to write a master plan for and submit for a prize—but this dreamscape was also nourished by a deep alignment with their first encounter with the Humming Bear, a brother at first hug. A man who lifted Cassandra's and Nic's spirits . The Humming Bear shared their tenacity to bring peoples together and share solutions of the future, now.

These were their people. They all knew the world needed it, and it was about devising the right pathways for people to engage.

They set off on their journey to share and test what a world that tends to food systems regeneratively could look like—an interconnected, living food knowledge lab offering shared security for a future with changing weather cycles and unpredictable corporate and political corruption.

The goal was one: sovereign food systems.

The people behind this dream were many, weaving golden hearts, threads of ideas, connections, and gatherings. These people became family The Mush Farm Fam, The family grew.

These lovebirds felt their prayer and connection expanding. This lifted their spirits to take on their biggest initiation yet—becoming parents.

A little exotic flower soul saw these two conjuring community, love, and prayer and felt the call to be part of their duo.

As she downloaded into their reality, Nico traveled from their home in Mexico to Costa Rica. On this specific trip, right after finding out they were indeed pregnant, he landed in the Diamante Valley.

This land called him.

He called Cassandra and let her know that, for the first time, he felt at home.

These three worked tirelessly with some of their closest friends to bring this prayer into reality, called by the spirit of the land and honed in by the greater purpose of creating a resilience hub whose focus is water and food security.

Landing at Finca Tierra Sagrada seven and a half months pregnant, Cassandra and Nico started their new life, returning to Costa Rica for a third time. They landed home with their fairy crew of godmothers and abuelitas who supported the birth of Maya Florencia.

Now, after tending the lands for three years, the trio vows to marry the land and bring their extended family from far and near to celebrate their union and their stewardship of the sacred soils and waters.

“To the world you are one person, but to one person you are the world”.
